Challenges
Hiring for growth
Fresenius Medical Care has grown rapidly in recent years. To sustain the organization’s pace of innovation and advancement, the company needed more research and development talent. And recruiting for these essential roles was further complicated because Fresenius’ research and development departments are in remote locations.
Fresenius Medical Care’s growth rate made talent acquisition more important with each passing week. Requests for new hires continued at a pace of 10 per month. Fresenius Medical Care needed to quickly find and hire the right research and development talent for critical roles like engineers, software developers, data scientists.
Solutions
Shaping a multifaceted talent acquisition program
In July 2018, Fresenius Medical Care hired Cielo to provide end-to-end talent acquisition support for specialist engineering and IT positions in research and development across multiple sites in Germany. The Cielo team immediately took over 46 open positions, including a high number of aging ones.
Cielo built a delivery team with two onsite recruiters, supported by expert sourcers in Cielo’s Budapest service delivery center. The program included:
- Sourcing candidates from geographies outside of Germany, selected based on availability of talent and likelihood of relocation to Germany
- Supporting onsite recruiters with sourcing techniques
- Involving recruiters in first round interviews to streamline the process and effectively assess candidates
Results
The strategic collaboration between Fresenius Medical Care and Cielo resulted in a strong pipeline of engaged talent, leading to:
- All existing requisitions filled within 18 months of the partnership launch
- Reduced time to hire by 21%
- Direct hiring (excluding agencies) ratio of 99%
Fresenius Medical Care’s refreshed talent acquisition approach allowed the company to hire more than 120 employees in specialized high-qualified engineering and IT positions. These jobs filled the need for niche skillsets in remote locations and helped Fresenius Medical Care respond to the challenging talent market in Germany.
